Background: Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT) is a common autoimmune disease of thyroiditis. There is a relation with Vitamin D levels, vitamin D receptor (VDR) and HT reported. More than 30 gene polymorphisms are found in VDR gene. The most common four types of polymorphisms studied in autoimmune disease are FokI (exon 2), BsmI (intron 8), ApaI (intron 8) and TaqI (exon 9).
